As you already know, we are livng right by the “Wiesn” (a.k.a. Oktoberfest) – and right now it is fully on! Even though it seems a little calmer this year, you can still smell the special “Wiesn”-scent in the air. It’s a mix of grilled chicken, beer and roasted almonds + some flavours, I won’t mention here… Since the smell is in the air, you are always developing a craving for the sweet roasted sugar coated nuts – especially my boys do! That’s why todays post is filled with a couple of Oktoberfest impressions and a very quick recipie for roasted nuts… Paired with a chocolate dipped apple this is a great treat for the boys after school.
Microwave roasted nuts
- 200g almonds or any mixed nuts
- 3 tbsp. sugar (brown or white)
- 1 tsp. finely ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp. of water
Mix sugar and cinnamon and spread over the nuts in a microwave proof container. Add the water and mix it all up. Put it in the microwave for about one minut (600W). Give it a good stirring. Repeat the step in one-minute-intervals until the entire sugar dissolved. Stir the hot nuts until the steam is gone, so that they don’t stick together as a whole. Let them cool down and start to enjoy!
